Health Hold Policy and Requirements
Notification Prior to Health Hold | Removing Healthhold
If students taking 6 credits or more* fail to submit documentation that meets Skidmore College and New York State (NYS) health requirements by the appropriate deadline, a Health Hold will be placed on their registrar account. This will prevent students from being able to register for the next semester's classes until the requirements are met.
Notification Prior to Health Hold
Before a Health Hold is placed, students will be contacted multiple times via messages in their Health Services Portal. These messages will automatically send email and text message alerts.
To avoid a Health Hold, students must submit adequate documentation for the following:
- Required vaccinations: MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), meningitis, tetanus, or religious/medical exemption with approval from Health Services
- Medical provider documentation of a physical exam (within 1 year of the matriculation date)
- Health History Form
- Tuberculosis screening questionnaire/testing (based on your responses to the questionnaire)
- Consent for Care and Privacy Form
For more details on the requirements, please visit the following webpages: Incoming Student and Immunization Requirements.
Removing a Health Hold
Once students submit appropriate documentation approved by Health Services, their Health Hold will be removed either by Health Services or the Registrar. A daily report is run by Health Services starting the day before each registration period (Fall and Spring) through the registration period to identify students who have met the requirements and can have their Health Hold lifted. Students will be notified via phone, email, or in-person at the time of their appointment at Health Services when the Health Hold is removed.
*This policy applies to employees taking credits and students studying abroad.
